Roula is a dancer and performer, based between Stockholm Sweden and Crete Greece. Her work is focused on moving, as a way of coming together, with her own senses and with others. She explores dancing as an embodied exploration of the potentiality of being present, being affected, and affecting.

Roula’s first encounter with dance was at an early age through Cretan folk dances, which she continues to enjoy practicing at every social opportunity. Her education includes different contemporary dance techniques and somatic practices. She graduated from the bachelor program of dance performance at Stockholms University of the Arts in 2023.

As a performer, she has worked within different formats such as durational, site-specific as well as video performances, stage pieces, dance theater and dance theater for kids (mainly in group pieces) and she has performed in festivals such as MyWildFrag, All of Greece One Culture, International Art & Literature Festival by Kazantzakis Museum and Caravan next. She has worked with choreographers such as Przemek Kamiński, Yared T Cederlund, Ofelia Jarl Ortega, Mia Habib, Liz Kinoshita, Apostolia Papadamaki, Anna Mesquita, Leandro Zappala, Konstantinos Tsakirelis. Between 2014 and 2020 she was a member of the Echtagi dance-theater collective, creating and performing live and video dance pieces for 4 years.

During the last 2 years, she is busy defining her own artistic research around topics of identity, the female body, restrictions vs desires, imagination and fiction. In her teaching practices, she is exploring techniques from partnering, floor work, folk dances.
